The corresponding segmentation process is part of a project by Peter Salz, in cooperation with the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, University Hospital Leipzig (Prof. H. Wrigge, Dr. A. Reske).
Such meshes serve as anatomical models for Electrical Impedance Tomography image reconstruction. This functional imaging technique can be used to monitor mechanical ventilation of patients at the intensive care unit. With this work we hope to improve the medical expert’s analysis and decision making during intensive care treatment.
